Where Wishes Come True
Have you ever experienced an inner shift, one where you’re now resigned to and committed to making the rest of your world reflect that shift, but nothing has changed just yet?
A caterpillar transformed into a beautiful butterfly, wings ready to bear.
A babe prepared to leave the womb where he was fearfully and wonderfully knit
This innate need to transition wells up inside
filling your soul, claiming your voice, but the time is yet;
Like a wave on the brink of crashing over,
ordered to cease, be still
Pressure building as the rushing water restrains its force,
holding on against its will.

That’s how it was for me as we spent the next day of our vacation at the most magical place on earth, Disney Land.
While my soul had shifted a couple of days before, I wasn’t really ready to rock the boat, so to speak. The timing didn’t quite feel right anyway, with this being the last day before we took our daughter to her new home.
I didn’t want to miss out on a single minute with Hannah before thousands of miles separated us. So, despite the increasing fatigue settling over my body, I rode all the rides, watched the parades, and tried to fit in as much fun as I could with my girl. As it grew dark, Matt, Hannah and I gathered with all the other park visitors to watch Tinkerbell fly across the night sky while Jiminy Cricket sang of wishes coming true.
It would have been easy to linger in that magical moment, especially knowing our family vacation was coming to an end, and we would be saying goodbye to Hannah soon, but it was late and we needed to get back on the road.
We left the park and headed to our friend’s home in San Clemente where Hannah would be living. It was around midnight when we got there, so we slipped in as quietly as possible.
As we settled in for the night, I tried to wrap my mind around the idea that Hannah was in her new home.
She did it! The life she’d imagined for herself was coming true!
Thoughts of touring the college campus the next day were filled with all kinds of emotions.
