I think it’s safe to say we all want to be confident. What makes you feel confident can be as unique as you. But, there’s one self-confidence tip I’ve found to be universal. And it will give you the confidence boost you’re looking for, fast.

What is Self-Confidence and Why Is It Important?
First, let’s take a minute to talk define self-confidence. Simply put self-confidence is an acceptance of and trust in yourself and your ability to go through life. This acceptance and trust comes from self-awareness, meaning knowing yourself well; your strengths and weakness and then planning accordingly.
We can recognize a confident woman when we see her. She tends to shine. She doesn’t shrink in the presence of others. She carries herself with strength and dignity. And while all this may seem superficial, it’s not. Self-confidence is an inherent part of becoming and fully realizing who we are created to be.
With that said, let’s take a look a very simple way to gain confidence, quickly.
A Quick and Easy Confidence Booster
Is the yoga pants, baggy t-shirt, messy-hair-don’t-care rut taking a toll on your self-confidence? It certainly takes a toll on mine when I get in a rut.
When our self-esteem suffers, so does our ability to be present for the things that matter most. I’ve discovered a very simple way to build your self-confidence that will help you not only show up, but shine.
Get Dressed Everyday
Our old next door neighbor, Diane, used to say, “If you look good, you feel good. And if you feel good, you do good.” Over the years, I started taking her mantra to heart and discovered, she was right! Taking the time to change out of my pajamas always gives me a burst of confidence.
Now, where I’m from getting dressed means more than changing out of your pajamas. It means big hair, full makeup and a fashionable outfit. So, I had to redefine getting dressed to fit my lifestyle.
When I put on exercise clothes to walk or hop on my yoga mat, I feel capable and powerful.
When I wear yoga pants and tennis shoes on an organizing job, I feel confident and strong.
On the days I only have the energy to change into lounge clothes and brush my hair, I feel ready for the day. No matter what the day calls for, having a quick routine sets me up for success and makes me feel like a confident woman.
Two Tips for Getting Ready Quick
The 5-Minute Face
A 5-Minute Face Makeup Routine I my go to when I want to look put together, but I’m either in a hurry to get out the door or just don’t want to wear a full face of makeup. That includes:
- applying tinted moisturizer with SPF all over my face. I used my hands.
- a dap of Tarte shape tape concealer under the eyes. I blend it in with my ring finger.
- brushing eyebrow tint over my brows. I use a light hand for a natural look.
- patting a little bit of RMS cream blush on my cheeks
- dabbing a little color on my cheeks, either with the RMS eye and cheek cream or a neutral color gloss
- applying a coat of lengthening mascara.
Your routine should include the products you need to feel your best. You might skip blush and just focus on your eyes, or maybe you prefer bronzer over blush. Make it yours.
By the way, getting dressed doesn’t need to include makeup if makeup isn’t your thing.
Creating a Capsule Wardrobe
No matter the occasion, taking the time to curate a capsule wardrobe has been a game-changer in helping me get dressed every day. And it has proven to be an instant confidence booster.
Capsule doesn’t have to mean a certain (limited) number of pieces. At least it doesn’t for me. I’ve defined capsule as being able to create as many outfits as possible with as few pieces of clothing as possible. One thing that has taken my capsule wardrobe to the next level and really given me more confidence is finding my own style.
Styling an outfit has become a form of self-expression for me. Just as simple half tuck makes me feel like I’m rocking street fashion with the confidence of an Instagram influencer. It’s probably one of those situations where the image in my head looks like a magazine shoot and reality looks, well, more realistic, but I don’t care. It’s how you feel that makes the difference.
My go-to resource for creating a capsule wardrobe is Outfit Formulas by Get Your Pretty On. My first seasonal capsule was in Fall 2016, and I haven’t missed one since. Participating has allowed me to hone in on my personal style and curate a closet of clothes I feel confident wearing.
Here’s to looking your best so you can feel your best! Because you deserve to be confident in who you are created to be.

It’s so tempting to stay in my workout clothes. But as sure as I do, I am guaranteed to run into a client at the market. Or, even better/worse meet a potential client somewhere.
Like my Nanny says, “You gotta have pride!”

I have plenty of no make-up baggy clothes wearing days. One time I went somewhere without makeup and the mother of one of my students said, “I’m so glad you look like the rest of us when you’re not wearing makekup.”
I guess sometimes those we work for need to see that we’re regular folks, too.

Did you go shopping yet? And I’d love to hear what tips you learned. xo
