I’d been up for a couple of hours when I noticed the light of the day brightening my windows, beckoning me to the front porch. I put a kettle of water on high heat and retreated to my bedroom to put on my robe. By the time I walked back into the kitchen, the water was hot.
My fingers searched through the tea bags for Earl Grey. I placed the bag in the blue and white patterned cup and poured the hot water over it. As the tea steeped, I spun the turn table table in the pantry and waited for the maple syrup to appear. Then, I opened the fridge and reached for the almond milk.
The tea turned to a creamy, light brown as the almond milk swirled into the cup. After adding a dash of syrup, I gave the tea final stir and headed out the front door.
I settled into the rocking chair and watched the steam rise from my cup in between comforting sips of my freshly made London Fog Latte and thought of you, wondering if you enjoy warm drinks in the morning, too.
If you do, I’d love to share this simple recipe for making your own London Fog Latte, also known as an Earl Grey Latte.
How to Make a London Fog ( a.k.a. Earl Grey Latte)
Ingredients:
- Earl Grey tea leaves or tea bag (I’m not sophisticated so I use a tea bag.)
- Almond milk or your milk of choice
- Vanilla extract
- Sweetener of your choice (I use maple syrup.)
Directions:
- Heat water in a tea kettle. (I use an old-fashioned, non electric kettle.) Then, pour hot water over the tea bag or steep the tea leaves for about five minutes. (For dietary reasons, I only steep mine for a couple of minutes.)
- While the tea is steeping, pour a small amount of milk into a sauce pan, heat over medium heat and stir with a whisk to create a froth.
- Pour the warm milk into your tea.
- Add a dash of vanilla and/or sweetener
- Stir and enjoy.
I base the measurements on the size of my tea cup. For example, if I’m drinking from a 6 oz. cup, I allow one to two ounces for the milk, vanilla and sweetener.
Enjoy!
Because we all deserve a little time to sip and savor.
