In order to appreciate just how much my new green skirt can do, you need to hear the back story.
You see, I wasn’t planning on buying new clothes that day. I’d gone to pick up my prescription and grab a couple of food items for dinner and that’s all. Everything was going according to plan with the exception a detour to the Dollar Spot where I ended up getting some white storage bins.
Prescription refill…check
Produce… che…
I’d just put a head of lettuce in my basket when it happened; the unexpected, uncontrollable, urgent need to use the bathroom. I cinched and clinched and willed everything to wait as I hurried all the way across the other side of the store to the bathroom.
Once inside the stall, I assessed the damage. I thought my underwear was the only casualty until it caught my eye; a long smear on the outside of my shorts in a most obvious location. How in the world was I going to walk out of that bathroom with no bottoms to wear??? While I sat there, ideas racing through my mind, two employees walked in to take their restroom break.
Do I ask them for help? To go grab some clothing from the women’s department and bring it back to me? As if this situation weren’t embarrassing enough, and now I’m considering bringing someone else into it?
As the two employees chit chatted over washing their hands, panic started to rise and I began rehearsing what to say in my mind.
Ma’am? I’ve had an emergency. Would you please get some shorts or anything from the women’s department and bring them back to me. I’ll pay for them.”
Just as I was about to get up the nerve to say something, they left. At that point, I did the only thing I knew to do. Put my shorts back on, try to strategically hang my purse over my back and make a mad dash for the clothing department.
First things first; new panties.
Next, I picked out a couple of clothing options in case one didn’t fit. As luck would have it, the shorts did not fit. All of my hopes were hanging on this little green skirt.
It fit! I pulled the tag off and finished shopping. Embarrassment was replaced with confidence as I pranced around in my new skirt.
Then, as I was checking out the lady said,
“I recognize this lettuce in the white bin. I saw it outside the restroom earlier and wondered why someone would abandon it.”
I’d already handed her the price tag to the skirt and told her I had decided to wear it.
“Ohhhh, yeah. Yeah,” she said knowingly as she put two and two together.
We left it at that.
I’ve worn that little green skirt several times now and it has become one of my favorite pieces of clothing. It is very comfortable and the green color is so versatile. It can be worn with pink, purple, coral, blue, white, tan, black and gray as well as dressed up with wedges or kept casual with flip flops.
It’s truly the little green skirt that could.
See you in class,

Yes it is! And the only comforting thing about it was knowing a friend of mine has been in similar circumstances. That’s why I shared such an embarrassing story…it’s nice to know we’re not alone.
