While Matt and I may not agree that working on projects together is the best kind of date, we do both enjoy reading.
So, after doing some planning and rearranging, I managed to squeeze one more chair into my bedroom.
And, that made it official. I now have a cozy seating area for two tucked into the corner, ready for a romantic rendezvous…
me lounging on the chaise and him seated in the chair, reading side by side; occasionally looking up from our books to share an interesting fact or read aloud a funny quote…just like we do at the beach.
When I shared my idea of a reading date with Matt, he just looked at me with an expression that I couldn’t read, and said, “okay.”
Maybe he just needs to warm up to the idea. Or, maybe a reading date sounds better when it’s under an umbrella on the beach.
That is my motivation; trying to find an inexpensive, easy way for us to spend time together while Matt works to finish up his LCP degree.
He can still read books from the Self-Help section that count towards his internship hours,
and I can scratch a selection from Women’s Fiction (I didn’t even know there was such a category until I started searching through the many genres on Thriftbooks.com) off of my Summer reading list.
It’s being together that counts.
And, I know that Matt will be happy to join me for a reading date, but it may just have to wait ’til Summer fades to Fall; when we trade in our beach chairs and umbrellas for a seating area for two.
